GREEN DOOR PICTURES
Our creative ethos is borne from a speech that Idris gave to Westminster in 2016 about diversity and inclusion in the UK film and TV industry. He talked about turning on the TV and not seeing the world that he grew up in. He shared his own career path as an actor, being offered only support roles in the UK and how going to the US enabled him to take on a diverse array of characters and ultimately come back to the UK a leading man. Green Door Pictures exists to enable a more direct route to goal for talented film and TV series writers, actors, directors and producers to bring the best of diverse storytelling to a global audience.

Books Consultant

Here's a little bit about me. I've worked in the arts in various capacities, starting out in theatre where I specialised in New Writing , as a result I used to read for the Arts Council's new writing competitions like the John Whiting prize. Moving on, I started working as a freelance drama producer for BBC Radio and set up my own company, Big World Pictures (spot the ambition?) to create TV and Radio projects with a black bias. After gaining a place on a 'diverse' BBC producer training cohort I managed to work sporadically in Music and Arts and Drama, whilst teaching on the MA short film (adaptation) course at Leeds University.

My biggest claims to fame are: having my Radio 3 production of 'for colored girls...' placed in the archive as an example of outstanding drama; associate producing the Emmy winning, The Miles Davis Story for Dibb Directions and C4 and producing Reflecting Skin for my own company (a ten-year journey) and BBC4.

So, CV over here's some personal stuff: I'm a sucker for sci-fi/spec. fic. I’m starting my AVPhD. And finally, many years ago I had to learn a new skill in order to play a character called, Thamesmead Tanzi. I learnt how to wrestle, don't think I could do a Venus Flytrap anymore but I do remember how to fall backwards, safely.
